About Soft Search at DivideBuy

What is a soft credit search?

If you’re looking for a way to spread the cost of a purchase, you can now find out how likely you are to be accepted with us by performing a soft search of your credit file.

Using our soft search facility, we can tell you if your credit application will be successful before you actually apply, so it reduces the risk of you being refused.

Soft searches check elements of your credit file like your identity and financial history, painting a clear picture of anything that might stand between you and your planned purchase – without being visible to lenders or adversely affecting your credit score.

When would a credit check be performed?

Here at DivideBuy, we carry out credit checks on behalf of our retailers when customers sign up to make a purchase. But we also now offer our soft search facility with some of our retailers, so you could see how likely you are to be accepted for credit before you actually submit your application.

How can I have a soft search performed?

When you’re shopping on selected retail partner’s website, you may be given the option to enter your details at the basket page and our technology performs a soft credit check. Please note, this is not available with all of our retailers yet. This means that you could instantly know your creditworthiness specifically for your purchase with that particular retailer and DivideBuy. If you choose to not proceed with the purchase, you can be comfortable in the knowledge that it will have no impact on your credit profile.

You can also look at your credit report by signing up to credit reference agencies like Equifax, Experian or TransUnion and requesting your report. Here at DivideBuy, we use TransUnion to obtain your credit information alongside our unique algorithm.

If you see something in our shopping directory you’d like to purchase with and you’re not sure whether you will be accepted; you can contact our customer service team and we can perform a quick soft search.
